Continuous Integration Consultant

As a Continuous Integration Consultant at Lexis Nexis, I architected and deployed fully automated build and release pipelines that accelerated development cycles and ensured consistent, secure delivery of digital services. Partnering with cross-functional teams, I migrated legacy systems, standardized environments, and empowered offshore developers with repeatable, self-service workflows.

Key Responsibilities and Achievements

  • Designed and implemented Jenkins Groovy pipelines for serverless AWS Lambda (Node.js) builds, reducing manual deployment steps by 80% and cutting average release time from hours to under 15 minutes.
  • Created a bespoke Drupal distribution tailored for magazines and journals, defining its system architecture and core modules as a reusable framework.
  • Led the migration of three Drupal 6 sites to Drupal 7, integrating SimpleSAML for seamless single sign-on across platforms, and spun up two additional Drupal 7 properties from this foundation.
  • Engineered end-to-end automation across local and cloud environments:
    • Build scripting with Vagrant, Puppet, and Chef for consistent developer workstations
    • AWS provisioning using EC2, S3, RDS, AMI, Route 53, EFS, and CloudFormation
    • Horizontal and vertical auto-scaling with load balancing to handle traffic spikes
  • Established behavior-driven development (BDD) workflows and continuous testing using SimpleTest, Selenium, Behat, Cucumber, and Gherkin, increasing test coverage by 65% and catching regressions earlier in the cycle.
  • Deployed Rundeck for automated, auditable rollouts, achieving zero-downtime releases and instant rollback capabilities.
  • Managed ongoing security patching and maintenance for a portfolio of 12 websites, coordinating a global team of developers, DevOps engineers, and testers to uphold SLAs and compliance standards.
  • Migrated existing Puppet and Chef configurations to Ansible, consolidating configuration management and reducing maintenance overhead by 50%.
  • Developed an additional CakePHP-based microsite to demonstrate rapid prototyping best practices and encourage adoption of lightweight frameworks for internal tools.

Through strategic pipeline design, rigorous automation, and collaborative leadership, I delivered scalable, resilient CI/CD solutions that elevated Lexis Nexis’s digital operations and set a blueprint for future development initiatives.
